FIGHTING for MEMBERS

At the last PSA election in 2021, Stewart Little and the Rank & File team were elected to strengthen our great union. Since then, our experienced team has gone from strength to strength, transforming the PSA into a powerful, united, and formidable force that fights for our members.

We always put members first.

Our mission is clear: grow our union and fight relentlessly for our members' rights, wages, and conditions.

For over a decade, under the O’Farrell, Baird, Berejiklian, and Perrottet governments, we were shackled by an unjust wages policy that capped and stagnated wages. Every year, we had to fight in the Industrial Relations Commission (IRC) just to secure up to a 2.5% pay rise—and nothing more.

In 2023, we took action. We ran a strong campaign to change the government—and we won. Before the election, we worked tirelessly, lobbying the opposition, every party, and every crossbencher to secure real commitments for our members, the Champions of the State.

Under the Minns Government, our campaigning has already delivered key wins:

  • Abolishing the Wages Cap – Removing restrictions that held our pay increases back for years.

  • Restoring the Independence of the IRC – Re-establishing its authority as the longest-standing industrial relations commission in the country.

  • Over 8000 permanent positions for School Support Staff – Providing secure jobs for education members.

  • Ending Privatisation – Stopping the sell-off of publicly owned assets and services.

  • Junee Correctional Centre is coming into public ownership for the first time in history, with a firm commitment from the Minns government to bring Parklea Correctional Centre back into public hands as well.

  • New Award for Child Protection Workers – Strengthening protections for those who protect the most vulnerable.

  • Major Wins for Key Public Services roles, including Fisheries, Special Constables, Sheriff Officers, and Public Service Psychologists with many more to come.

Our Fight Continues – A Stronger Future for PSA Members

The Stewart Little Rank & File Team will never stop fighting for our members. Our commitment remains unwavering:

  • Stronger Member & Delegate Engagement – Working closely with our members on the ground every day.

  • Empowering members at Work – Ensuring equality and opportunity.

  • Flexible Workplaces – Securing real work-life balance.

  • Public Sector Domestic & Family Violence Support – Fighting for more public service facilities.

  • Stronger Child Protection Services – Bringing back out-of-home care into public hands.

  • Action on Housing & Homelessness – Fighting for essential services.

  • Better Mental Health Support – Prioritising your wellbeing.

With your support, we will continue to build a stronger PSA, secure better pay and conditions, and fight for every member.
