The Rank and File are committed to better servicing our members and to building a strong union that can protect and build the Public Service.


Achievements:

  • Returned the portfolio model of Industrial Teams ensuring staff are familiar with the issues in their area and are better able to support members

  • Built strong working relationships with delegates and members in workplaces to better support members

  • Established a Legal Services Team within the PSA

  • Re-established a Work Health and Safety team to enable the Union to act quickly when members need assistance

  • Improved the Members Support Centre into a triage operation ensuring

  • serious matters are quickly escalated to industrial staff Established a Women’s Unit within the PSA to ensure integration of women’s concerns into all industrial teams

  • Established an Aboriginal Unit to ensure better integration of the concerns of Aboriginal members into the industrial teams

  • Updated Training Program, ensured more delivery of Program in the Regions and switched to remote delivery during Covid-19 to ensure delegates and members can continue to be engaged with the Union


The Rank and File team commit to:
 

  • Continue to improve the operations of the Member Support Centre to ensure it is meeting the needs of the membership

  • Continue to properly resource and support delegates and their Departmental Committees to ensure effective relationships between PSA staff and members and to properly advocate for member concerns

  • Continue to support the National Systems team to ensure the best possible advocacy and advice is available to members during enterprise bargaining and for those employed under the national system

  • Continue to support the Legal Services Team within the PSA to ensure industrial staff and members receive excellent legal support and advocacy

  • Build on the work done to support members in all industrial matters

  • Improve the research capacity of the PSA to support advocacy

  • Establish relationships with parliamentary representatives to work with those who are receptive to halt the progress of privatisation of public service jobs

  • Advocate for the building up of the public service to provide much needed services to communities
