Schools
NSW Public Schools could not function without the vital work of our members. We commit to continue to work with staff, school communities and the Department of Education to ensure that all non-teaching staff are valued as much as Teachers.
The Rank & File team understands that improvements require strong advocacy from the union when negotiating with the Department. We will ensure members and delegates have strong industrial support.

Achievements:

-
Won the campaign to deliver permanency to members working in schools resulting in more than 8000 staff being made permanent.
-
Negotiated a three-year pay deal for our members in schools with a Cost of Living Allowance that kicks in if economic situation changes in 2025 or 2026, freeing up union staff to focus on other major issues facing school members
-
Delivered pay parity for School Psychologists ensuring they are not earning less that school counsellors
-
Working closely with Schools Delegates and supporting their involvement in PSA decision making has brought much quicker action on issues as they arise.
-
Winning a 19% pay increase in the historic Equal Pay Case on behalf of SAS Staff in 2019 which was a key platform of the incoming Rank & File team.
-
Communications with schools members through bulletins and social media has increased and improved leading to record recruitment of members.
The Rank & File team commit to:

-
Highlighting the inadequacy of the Staffing Formula and campaigning and lobbying about staffing levels of General Assistants, SAS Staff and other support staff in Schools
-
Fighting the creeping return of a temporary and casual workforce – lobbying the department and government to develop a genuine pathway to permanency for Long Term Temporary employees that isn’t limited to one off conversion projects – Permanent and ongoing employment should be the norm not the exception
-
Campaigning around the increase in workplace violence and work overload experienced by members in schools
-
Monitoring the availability of face to face training for all classifications to ensure a highly trained and supported workforce
-
Pursue the Department to achieve fairer access to leave for Psychologists and Student Support Officers in schools

Eight of our candidates in this election work in Schools, Juliette Sizer is currently the PSA Senior Vice President, and a Schools Delegate for over 20 years. The Rank & File School Delegates know and understand the issues and challenges you face every day at work.
The 2025 PSA election:
The Rank & File team ensures that every day, our union is fighting for the members who do so much for public education and their school communities. The 2025 PSA election will determine how effective your union is going forward. It is vitally important that you vote.
Vote 1 for Group A - the Rank & File Team - to ensure that the PSA continues to fight on behalf of PSA members employed in Schools.
