Women's Council

The majority of the PSA’s members are women. The Rank & File team believes that the working lives of our female members deserve more attention and support.

Achievements:

Establishing a Women’s Unit within the PSA to support the Women’s Council Committee and ensure their initiatives are integrated to the whole of the work of the PSA

Appointment of a Women’s Industrial Officer to this Unit

Participated in activities and conferences organised by the ACTU and Unions NSW ensuring the relevance of the needs of PSA Women within these organisations

Initiated the first ever PSA CPSU NSW “What Women Want” survey to ask women members about their concerns and priorities

The Rank & File team commits to:

Ensuring democracy to Women’s Council Committee

Continue to support the PSA Women’s Unit and ensure it is supported by an industrially trained officer on a permanent basis

Maintain our leadership role on women’s issues within Unions NSW and the greater union movement

Report back regularly to Women’s Council and the broader membership

Develop and support campaigns relevant to the needs of our women members

Continue to lead campaigns against domestic violence and sexual harassment
-
Continue to develop momentum on issues that matter to women through a proactive industrial campaign to improve working conditions such as flexible work practices and job security.
